Why use GeoPlay in class?

Every student gets the same five questions on the same day, so results can be compared and discussed together. Answers are taps on a globe rather than multiple choice, which makes students think about where places really are, and the score shows how close they got, so a good guess still earns points.

The questions cover capitals, landmarks, natural wonders and moments from history, and each answer comes with a short explanation. It runs in any web browser on a phone, tablet, laptop or interactive whiteboard.

How do I set up a class leaderboard?

Create a free account, open Groups and create a group for your class. Share the group’s link or code with your students; once they join, the class has its own daily leaderboard, as well as 7-day, 30-day and all-time tables. As the group’s creator you can remove members.

To appear on a leaderboard each student needs a free account, and accounts are for people aged 13 and over.

What about students under 13?

Younger students can play every game without an account and without giving any personal data. A simple way to use it with a whole class is to put today’s quiz on the board and answer the five questions together.

Which games work without signing up?

All of the extra games work without an account: the Map Quiz (countries, flags and capitals region by region), the Capital Quiz, Guess the Flag, Guess the Country, Guess the US State, Higher or Lower, Timeline, Border Hop, Country Grid, Country Connections and Emoji Country. They are a good fit for a starter, homework or a spare ten minutes.

Can we look back at past quizzes?

Yes. The quiz archive lists recent days with every answer, where each place is and the story behind it, which works well for a quick review the next morning.
