About Higher or Lower
Higher or Lower is a free daily geography game about the size of countries. Two countries are shown side by side. You know the number for the first one; your job is to say whether the second has a higher or a lower number.
There are twelve rounds a day, and the question switches between population (how many people live there) and area (how much land it covers). A wrong answer doesn’t end the game, so you always play all twelve and finish with a score out of twelve.
The game uses up-to-date figures for population and land area, and every player gets the same twelve rounds each day.
What you’ll learn
- The population of countries around the world
- The size of countries in square kilometres
- Why big countries are not always crowded, and small ones not always empty
- How countries compare with their neighbours
Why play Higher or Lower every day?
Most people have a rough picture of the world map but very little idea of numbers. Is Nigeria bigger than Egypt? Does Germany have more people than Iran? Higher or Lower makes those comparisons quick and memorable, and the surprises are half the fun.
It is a good game for a short break, a classroom starter or a friendly competition: everyone gets the same rounds, so the best score wins. Free, with no account needed.
