About GeoPlay
GeoPlay is a free daily geography quiz played on a 3D globe: five questions a day, the same for everyone, scored by how close you tap.
When did GeoPlay start?
The first daily quiz, GeoPlay #1, went live on 1 October 2026. A new quiz has come out every day since, and the quiz archive keeps the recent days with their answers.
Where do the questions come from?
The daily quiz draws on a bank of more than 2,000 geography questions about capitals, landmarks, natural wonders and moments from history, each with its exact location and a short explanation. There are also “on this day” questions tied to the date.
The games use open data: country borders from Natural Earth, populations and GDP from the World Bank, cities from GeoNames, capitals, languages and currencies from the open world-countries dataset, and flags and national emblems from Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons. Satellite imagery is from Esri World Imagery, and the globe is drawn with MapLibre GL JS; these are credited on the globe while you play.
Is GeoPlay free?
Yes. Every game on GeoPlay is free and runs in your browser, with nothing to install. You can play without an account. A free account puts your name on the leaderboards and keeps your score, streak and stats across devices.
