How GeoPlay works
Five geography questions a day, one globe, the same quiz for everyone. Here’s everything you need to know.
1
Read the question: a city, landmark, stadium, battle or natural wonder.
2
Spin the globe and tap where you think it is. Your first tap is your answer.
3
The globe flies to the real spot and shows how far off you were.
4
Five rounds later, share your score and compare on the leaderboard.
The basics
- Five geography trivia questions every day.
- For each one, tap the spot on the globe where you think the answer is.
- The closer your tap is to the real spot, the more points you get.
- A new quiz unlocks every day at midnight (your local time).
- Everyone plays the same five questions on the same day, so scores are directly comparable.
- You can play today’s quiz without an account. Sign in to keep your score, streak and stats.
How each tap is scored
- Every question is worth up to 100 points.
- Your score depends only on how many kilometres your tap is from the right answer.
- Within 50 km of the answer you get the full 100.
- The curve is steep at first. Being 500 km off costs you about 18 points.
- It softens at long distances, so a guess on the right continent still earns something.
- No tap scores zero: even on the other side of the world (up to 20,000 km away) you still get 1–5 points.
The colours and emojis
- The colour you see on each round (in your result, on the leaderboard and in shared scores) tells you how good that single tap was.

Why later questions are worth more
- Questions get harder through the day (easy → medium → hard), and the stakes rise with them.
- A perfect day is 100 + 100 + 200 + 300 + 300 = 1,000 points.
The leaderboard
- See Today, the last 7 days, the last 30 days and All time.
- Only games played on the day count. Replaying a previous day is just for fun.
- Your own row is always shown, even if you’re outside the top 100.
- Ties are broken by total distance, then by who finished first.
- Last week’s and last month’s winners get a next to their name.
- Create a group with friends to get your own private leaderboard.
Streaks
- Your streak counts how many days in a row you’ve played today’s quiz.
- Skip a day and it resets to zero.
- Previous days played later don’t affect your streak. Only the day’s own game counts.
Your stats page
- Open Stats for your current and best streak, average and best score.
- A 14-day chart shows your daily totals, coloured with the same tiers as individual taps (scaled to 1,000).
Tips
- Drag to rotate the globe; pinch or scroll to zoom.
- One tap = your guess. There’s no “submit” button.
- Changed your mind mid-tap? Drag a little before you let go. Small movements count as a swipe, not a guess.
- Refresh mid-round if you need to. Your progress is saved.
- Challenge a friend with Versus: you both get the same five questions.
